The Partnership

Keats Engineering and Education are proud to have formed an industry partnership with our sister company Keats Site Services. Together we will support the skills, needs, and ambitions of individual Engineers. We want to drive the training and development of the engineering community and grow the local and national industry. Please see details below about the two courses we currently offer through our City & Guilds accreditation. These courses are only offered to Young People with an Educational Health Care plan on a 1-2-1 basis.

Level 1 & 2 Certificate in Engineering

Focussing on the major disciplines within engineering, the learner will gain the knowledge and skills needed to develop a successful career in engineering and advanced manufacturing.

You can choose optional units to suit your chosen career path in mechanical manufacturing engineering. Subjects covered include:

​

  • Welding

  • Using Computer Aided Manufacturing Processes

  • Plant maintenance

  • Computer Aided Design

  • Power supply.

​

You will learn in the classroom and in a work-based environment. Your assessments will be a mixture of practical and written assignments and on-line testing.

Which level is right for me?

​

Level 1


This level is ideal for school leavers considering a career in engineering and will provide a basic understanding of engineering principles.

​

Level 2


This level is ideal if you're a school leaver with some engineering knowledge and experience. You will develop your understanding and practical experience of specific engineering technologies.

Level 1 & 2 courses in Welding

City & Guilds welding courses are designed for a range of abilities: from beginners who need basic welding training, to more experienced welders who want to develop specialist skills.

 

Our Level 1 welding courses are ideal for anyone who wants to become a welder and is new to welding, metal fabrication, thermal cutting and/or brazing and soldering.

 

Our Level 2 welding courses are aimed at anyone with some experience who wants to develop their welding skills further.

The Level 1 Awards and Certificates are ideal if you are new to the welding, metal fabrication, thermal cutting and brazing & soldering and want to gain knowledge and practical experience.

 

There are seven single unit Award size qualifications available at this Level, plus two Certificate size qualifications. To gain a qualification you must successfully complete a number of practical assignments and an oral knowledge test.

The Level 2 Awards and Certificates are ideal if you already have some experience in welding and fabrication and are looking to develop your skills and knowledge further.

​

There are two sizes of qualification available at this Level:

Eight single unit (7 credits) Award size qualifications.
Two Certificate size qualifications.
To gain a qualification you must successfully complete a number of practical assignments and an oral knowledge test for each unit.
